The position I: Director of mass spectrometry Laboratory(LC-MS, GC-MS)

Location: Boston 

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 per year


About the Opportunity:

In this role, you will be responsible for the daily operation and management of the laboratory as well as building and improving the laboratory management policies. This is a Director-level position and will require participating in meeting with international teams. 


Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

  1. Lead the lab team to conduct and complete metabolomics and lipidomics projects and experiments, and review and approve laboratory reports.

  2. Ensure proper records of sample reception and storage, sample usage, and sample delivery and logistics.

  3. Responsible for the development and review of laboratory testing procedures, establishing SOPs and QC procedures, and establishing KPI for internal performance review.

  4. Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and being in contact with supplier engineers when necessary.

  5. Maintain up-to-date lab inventory and ensure reagents and consumables are sufficient for smooth operation.

  6. Establish efficient lab management plans and control operational costs.

  7. Provide training, assessment, and reward system for lab personnel.

  8. Establish GLP, ISO, CAP, and/or CLIA practices. Establish new lab design, construction, and site preparation when the company undergoes expansion.

  9. Provide weekly reports on progress, issues, and plans to executives.


To be successful in this role, you will require previous experience and skills in the following:

  1. A Master's degree or above with a background in analytical chemistry, pharmacology, medical laboratory, biology, or related field (A Bachelor's degree with extensive working experience will also be considered);

  2. At least 3 years of working experience in a mass spectrometry lab and hands-on experience working with LCMS and/or GCMS. Experience with AB Sciex platforms is a plus, but not necessary.

  3. Familiar with ISO15189 certification or CAP certification system. Experience in establishing related procedures will be beneficial.

  4. Excellent organizational, communications, and critical thinking skills with a strong sense of responsibility.

  5. Must be fluent in English. A command of the Chinese language is an asset.




Position II: Laboratory Technician

Location: Boston 

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $50,000 - $80,000 per year


About the Opportunity:

We are looking for motivated and responsible individuals to handle and process biological samples for metabolomics experiments. This position will be stationed in Boston (Woburn) with occasional travel for training purposes. The main responsibilities are:

1. Categorize, label, record, and properly store incoming samples according to SOP;

2. Perform sample extraction, detection, and experimental controls according to SOP and keep meticulous experimental records faithfully;

3. Perform data analysis and data QC using a standardized analysis pipeline, upload and submit the data in a timely manner within the project TAT;

4. Timely report and summarize problems or issues that occurred during the experiment and propose solutions and recommendations for process improvements or optimizations;

5. Maintain a clean working environment and ensure the work area meets all experimental requirements;

6. Carry out sample packaging and facilitate logistics to and from other facilities;


To be successful in this role, you will require previous experience and skills in the following:

1. A Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related majors. 

2. Experience in chromatography (LC or GC) would be an asset.

3. A quick learner with excellent verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking skills.

4. Attentive to details and keeps meticulous experimental records. 

5. Enthusiastic about science with a can-do attitude.




Position III: Business Development Executive

Location: Boston and Remote

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $60,000 - $100,000 per year + Commission


About the Opportunity:

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and results-driven individuals to expand Metware’s client base. The main responsibilities include:  

1. Develop sales plans and be responsible for identifying leads and potential clients to complete sales goals.

2. Identify potential distributors in the US or other countries and establish distributor agreements.

3. Present Metware’s products and services to potential clients virtually or in person. When necessary, visit universities, research hospitals, or industry partners to expand the client base.

4. Attend conferences and/or trade shows and generate leads. Follow up on the leads via email, phone calls, video conferencing, or personal visits. 

5. Maintain existing customer relationships.

6. Generate quotes and work orders for leads. Be the main point of contact for the customer regarding their work order and provide support to their questions. 

7. Suggest or design product or service promotions or marketing strategies.

8. Keep abreast latest biotechnology developments and follows industry/market trends


To be successful in this role, you will require previous experience and skills in the following:

1. A degree in biology, chemistry, or related majors with 2 years of experience in business development or sales role.

2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. 

3. Excel at learning new technology and its principles quickly.

4. Persistent personality with a positive attitude that does not give up easily, even when encountering difficult comments and rejections. 

5. Attentive to details and strive for perfection. 

6. Able to adapt to the fast pace and high-pressure environment.  

7. A self-starter and enthusiastic about emerging technology and biotechnology.
