What is Metabolomics?
What is Metabolomics?

The metabolome is the compendium of metabolites in a system. Metabolites are small chemical compounds, such as glucose, vitamins, and flavonoids, that are < 1200 Da. Many metabolites directly impact physiological traits.

Following genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, metabolomics is dubbed as the “Next Omics”. Metabolomics uses chromatography and mass spectrometry to identify and quantify metabolites from samples. Comparison between samples can identify metabolites that are significantly changed in different conditions.

With the advancement of high-throughput instrumentation, metabolomics is gaining wider applications in biomedical research, agricultural research, drug discovery, and biomarker development.

Featured Metabolomics Services
TM Widely-Targeted Metabolomics
Combining untargeted metabolomics and targeted metabolomics achieves the perfect combination of high resolution, wide coverage, high sensitivity and precise quantification.
Quantitative Lipidomics
Quantitative Lipidomics is a high-throughput targeted approach that simultaneously identifies and quantifies with semiquantification of over 4000 lipids.
Widely-Targeted Metabolomics for Plants
Widely-Targeted Metabolomics for Plants is an innovative metabolomics method that combines the benefits of untargeted metabolomics and targeted metabolomics to achieve high-throughput identification and quantification of wide variety of metabolites associated with plants. As part of our continual R&D, Metware's metabolite database (MWDB) now houses over 30,000 plant associated metabolites data to allow more extensive annotation and quantification from plant samples.
